Sustainability

Our company cares about the environment, so we conduct our artisanal activities in a sustainable way. The following are some of the measures we implement to achieve this.

Vegetable Tanning

Vegetable tanning is undoubtedly the most environmentally friendly method of tanning; it is based primarily on the use of cowhide from the food industry. The tannins used in the process are derived from natural sources, such as trees, ensuring the absence of heavy metals like chromium and nickel. The muddy residues produced during the tanning process can easily be recovered and reused, and the fur from the rawhide can be used as fertiliser.

Vegetable tanning has the added benefit of making leather more durable over time. Once it has reached the end of its life, it can also be disposed of more easily.

Use of Carnauba Wax

Carnauba wax is a natural substance derived from the leaves and buds of the carnauba palm tree. It is combined with pure beeswax and natural dyes. It is renowned for its glossy finish, waterproof properties, preservative qualities and emollient effects, making it completely hypoallergenic.

Not only does a natural wax such as carnauba wax ensure product protection and longevity, it also represents the best sustainable alternative.

Nickel-free metal accessories

The REACH regulation prohibits the sale of products that exceed established nickel release limits. To avoid allergic reactions and reduce environmental impact, it is essential to choose ‘nickel-free’ items.

Recycled paper and cardboard packaging

Cardboard is undoubtedly the predominant material in eco-friendly packaging. It is strong and durable, and can be produced in an ethical and sustainable way. Above all, it is responsible because, even if it is not initially made from recycled material, 80% of it can still be biologically degraded.

Separate waste collection enables paper and cardboard to be recovered and transformed into raw materials, which are then reintroduced into the production cycle to create new packaging paper.
